Comparative Study of Conventional, Microwave-Assisted and Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Bioactive Compounds from Microalgae: The Case of Scenedesmus obliquus

The recovery of bioactive products with green processes is a critical topic for the research and industry fields. In this work, application solid–liquid (SLE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) aq. ethanol 90% v/v supercritical fluid (SFE) CO2 biocomponents from Scenedesmus obliquus studied. effects examined were temperature (30–60 °C), time (6–24 h), solvent-to-biomass ratio (20–90 mLsolv/gbiom) SLE, (40–60 (5–25 min), mLsolv/gbiom), microwave power (300–800 W) MAE, pressure (110–250 bar), solvent flow rate (20–40 gsolv/min), cosolvent presence (0, 10% w/w ethanol) SFE in relation to extract’s yield, phenolic, chlorophyll, carotenoid content, antioxidant activity. optimum conditions determined 30 °C, 24 h, 90 mLsolv/gbiom 60 5 min, mLsolv/gbiom, 300 W 250 bar, 40 gsolv/min SFE. Additionally, kinetic study was conducted obtained results satisfactorily correlated using Sovová’s model. comparison between methods proved MAE’s efficiency all terms compared SLE. Moreover, accompanied lowest yield chlorophyll yet led an increased content improved Finally, addition significantly SFE’s most superior extract.
